Algarve is one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Portugal. There are two official nudist beaches in Algarve. Though there are many other beaches which are well known for being nudist, there are only two which are official. Due to its coastline which offers privacy and solitude it is not surprising that there are so many nudist beaches which flourish along the length of the coves and inlets running along the never ending and far reaching coast line. The two official nudist beaches are Adegas beach in Odeceixe on the west coast of Algarve and Praia do Homem Nu in the east cost of the city. Both these beaches are obviously great tourist attractions.

There are officially also two or three gay beaches in Algarve. Cavalo Perto, Praia Grande and Quinta do Lago and Fara Island are three which are officially declared to be gay beaches. Sea waters around the beaches and coves are safe and secure for swimming and water sports but one should pay close attention to all signs which are put up on the beaches to warn swimmers and tourists who are not aware of the dangers of the waters in the area. Different colored flags denote safe and unsafe places where tourists can venture into the water.
Algarve is well known for its outdoor sports activities which attract many tourists. Water sports are very popular and surfing and waterskiing can be enjoyed. Golf is a popular sport as the city is well known for its well maintained and luxurious golf courses. The Portuguese love dancing and nightlife if of prime importance to the people of Portugal.
